Bayford Remembers…

Jesus said, ‘I am the Good Shepherd… I know my sheep and my sheep know me.’ John 10.14

Following the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II which came after school closed yesterday, we held a special assembly this morning to remember the Queen. It’s really important for us to help the children understand why this is such an important and emotional moment for so many people across the UK and around the world. It’s also important for us to give thanks for the late Queen’s many years of service as head of state, and for the outstanding personal qualities she brought to her role and the values she embodied. This won’t be the only time for us to remember, but today we came together at the beginning of the day to share our thoughts and feelings, to pray, and to give thanks. Our thoughts and prayers are with His Majesty King Charles and all the royal family:

Loving God, our Queen has died and people are sad.

Thank you for her long life and her care for her people.

We pray for our new King. Bless and guide him as his reign begins.

Amen.
