Opportunities to join us

Bayford is an energetic and vibrant school with a reputation for nurturing and developing its staff. It is important to us to be at the cutting edge of current educational practice and to look for new and innovative ways to enrich pupils’ learning. We care about giving all our staff opportunities to develop, not just qualified teachers. The well-being of our staff is central to our vision, and we know that the children will really thrive when the adult members of the community love working here and feel valued for the important contribution each of them makes.

As a school community we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share our commitment.

We will post details of any vacancies on this page, and you can also look on Teach in Herts, where we also post details of all current opportunities to join the Bayford school community.

Working at Bayford

Bayford is a 0.5 FE nursery and primary school located in the village of Bayford, about three miles south of Hertford. Bayford village has a population of just under five hundred, and is served by a railway station just outside the village on the Hertford loop line, with trains running south to Moorgate via Highbury & Islington, and north to Hertford and Stevenage.

Bayford is a voluntary controlled Church of England school with a strong Christian vision and ethos. This does not mean that you must be a committed Christian to be part of our community. We welcome applications from anyone with appropriate qualificiations or experience regardless of faith: if you support our values and would like to work here, we would love to meet you!

Bayford is in the Fringe Area for teachers’ salaries, so teaching staff are paid at a higher rate than in much of the county (in Hertfordshire the Fringe Area covers the Districts of Broxbourne, Dacorum, East Hertfordshire, Hertsmere, St Albans, Three Rivers, Watford, and Welwyn Hatfield).

We are committed to supporting the well-being of everyone in our community and staff are well-supported by colleagues, senior leaders, and the governing body. In a small school there are plenty of opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, but we know that this can be a mixed blessing! Our aim is that no one feels over-stretched, and that everyone feels the positive side of being welcomed into a small and friendly community in which each individual matters.
