Our local church is St Mary's church in Bayford Lane where the children visit for services throughout the year. During our harvest celebation service the children sings hymns and thank God for the food we eat. The children bring in gifts of food, which we display in the church for the Sunday harvest service. This is then delivered to local residents and the Leonard Cheshire Disability home in Enfield.
Our Christmas service sees the children of Class 3 re-tell the story of the birth of Jesus through story telling and posters that they create in class. The whole school sing carols and other Christmas songs which they have learnt during their collective worship back at school. This is a very popular service with the parents and the church is usually filled to the brim, with standing room only to later arrivers! We also attend church for an Easter service which is also a popular event with parents and children alike.
The school have a display in the church where art work or poems created by the children are displayed for the local residents of Bayford to see when they visit.
Reverend Theresa is the minister of the church and she visits the school on a weekly basis to lead Collective Worship on a Thursday morning. The worship focuses on the current school value, either Courage, Appreciation, Respect, Peace, Responsibility or Love. The children enjoy hearing bible stories that relate to the value and engage fully with Reverend Theresa's stories and discussions.
