Home Learning - School Closure

During the school closure I will be posting activities for maths, English every evening for the next day. These are activities that we would do in class during reading and English sessions every day. I will also post some science, geography or history that can be completed throughout the week.  I will put a picture of the new spelling words on here at the beginning of each week, so that you can test yourselves at the end of the week at home (these will also be on spelling shed). Feel free to let me know how you are getting on with them.

Some of the activities will be from the booklets that were sent home. We have also set up a class email address (class2@bayford.herts.sch.uk), so any questions or pictures that you may have to share can be i sent and will be answered/seen periodically through the week.

I hope to see you all soon and I can't wait to see all of the pictures and lovely things you will be doing whilst spending time with your families :)

Easter Home Learning:

Usually during the easter holidays I would send home some project type work for us to talk about and look at next term. This time is a little bit different as I know that you may not have access to all of the things that you would usually so I have given you some home learning based on what I hope we will be going back to school and learning about.

Our topic for next half term is:  Awesome Inventors and Riotus Royalty.

We will be learning all about famous scientists and inventors from the past and present and all about the history Englands royalty. With this in mind I have two activities for you to complete.

Awesome Inventors: Incredible Inventions.pdf  Scientists and inventors have created so many different things over the years to help make our lives easier. If you could invent something to make children's lives easier what would it be? Use this template to design and label a new invention. Give a short explanation to explain what it does and why it is helpful.

Riotus RoyaltyThe Crown Jewels Newspaper Report.pdf. The Crown Jewels have been stolen! Write a newspaper report using this template to explain what has happened. you may need to do a little bit of research surrounding the Crown Jewels first. Find out why they are so important.

Spellings and Times Tables :  I have also attached your easter spellings to learn.  These will stay the same for the next two weeks. I will also put them on spelling shed.  Easter holiday spellings.pdf

Don't forget to also practise your times tables and use TT Rockstars when you can - I am super impressed with some of your rock status'!

Optional Easter themed activities: It is really hard not beaing able to do  as much as you usually would. With this in mind I have attached some easter themed activities for you to do at home based on the easter story.

To help you to support the children's maths learning at home I have attached a copy here of the schools calculation policy. This details how different skills are be taught throughout the school. Calculation Policy.pdf

Year 3:

Year 4:

Physical activity is very important for our health and wellbeing and we have spoken about this quite often in class.

At 9am every day the body coach Joe Wicks will be holding a 30minute PE session on his youtube channel. It would be brilliant if we could get the whole class doing this every day at the same time in our respective homes to jump start our days, I know I will be! The link to his channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/videos

Weekly Learning:

Creative activities:

I have added some sheets with daily creative ideas that the children could pick and choose from whilst they are having to stay inside.

I would love to see pictures of any of the tasks they have had a go at.

Homework is an essential part of learning. It gives children the opportunity to practise and refine skills that they have learnt in school. It is vital that homework is completed. Homework is set once a week on a Thursday and is due in on the following Thursday.

Spellings are sent home once a week on a Friday (in homework books) and are tested on the following Friday.

Children will be expected to practice their times tablesat home in any way they please. We have signed up to TT Rockstars, which the children can log intoand practice online.

It is also important that your child reads daily at home for at least 10 minutes.
