Intent, Implementation & Impact Statement

Geography is taught at Bayford in a way that aims to inspire curiosity and fascination in our children about the world and its people. Children in KS1 learn map skills while learning about the world’s seven continents, seas and oceans. They learn more about different parts of the world through the study of food from around the world, with cross-curricular links with Design and Technology.

In lower KS2, physical Geography is studied through a topic based around volcanoes and earthquakes. Geographical skills and fieldwork is learnt through topics about the Wider World and Map Skills and Fieldwork. While in upper KS2, through the Amazing Planet topic, the children learn about climates around the world, different biomes and extreme weathers.
