Geography Policy

Geography is taught at Bayford in a way that aims to inspire in our children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. Children in KS1 learn map skills while learning about the world’s seven continents, seas and oceans. They learn more about different parts of the world through the study of clothes around the world and also compare the UK with another European country through the travels of Barnaby Bear.

In lower KS2 physical geography is studied through a topic based around volcanoes as well as discovering about where in the world our food comes from. Geographical skills and fieldwork is learnt about through a topic about the UK and Europe. While in upper KS2 the children learn about the UK counties and the world’s countries and continents through studying rivers and coastlines. In addition they find out about different biomes of the world in a topic about Polar regions.
